Ben Garrod

As well as a broadcaster and author, I am an evolutionary biologist, looking at how species change over time, meaning I can work with anything from polar bears and monkeys, to sharks and even dinosaurs. I specialise in great apes though and was lucky enough to start my career by running a large conservation project in Uganda focusing on chimpanzees for the renowned primatologist Dr Jane Goodall. I then worked on Sumatra with orangutans before moving over to the Caribbean to investigate how monkeys evolve on islands, for my PhD. I am now a Teaching Fellow at Anglia Ruskin University.
